There might be some truth to this story. Gruden and his wife Cindy have been looking for a home in Tennessee but maybe not for the HC reason. They have always wanted a vacation home in Tennessee so now would be the perfect time to look for one to heat up the rumors. Only a matter of time for this story to leak out to the media. They are also looking to upgrade to a larger home in Tampa. They want to remain in Avila with the new home.

      https://www.yahoo.com/sports/tennessee-rumors-become-fresh-leverage-184455233.html

In the event no NFL owners have been listening to Jon Gruden’s repeated musings about a return to coaching, an exclamation point — and a price tag — has been applied via the emergence of a report linking Gruden to the University of Tennessee.

Jason La Canfora of CBS reports that Gruden is “talking to” the Volunteers about taking over the program, at a price tag of $10 million per season plus another $8 million per year for his staff. (It’s easy to budget for coaches when a program doesn’t have to budget for players.)

Tennessee seems to want to move quickly, which would mean that Gruden would potentially have to exit his ESPN gig with weeks left on it. (They surely have someone else they could cram in to the booth for the final few games of the season.) Of course, this assumes that Gruden actually has interest in coaching in college. For now, there’s a chance that his interest is confined to using the interest of a college program to generate more interest from an NFL team.

Or, if all else fails, to secure another long-term, big-money extension from a four-letter network that has been hemorrhaging cash but that may feel like it has no choice but to pay whatever Gruden wants for however long ESPN has the Monday Night Football package.

Good hire for UT despite their delusional fanbase. They need someone that will hold the players accountable. He gets players into the league. I didn’t much care for him as a pro coach but, he’s a good get for a program that is trying to become relevant again.

Mullen at UF should be solid as well. Fans get so caught up in chasing shiny objects that they lose sight of really good hires. Chip Kelly would have ruined UF forever, they really dodged a bullet there.

GoldsonAges on 2nd round pick, Safety, Justin Evans, out of Texas A&M – “coaching can’t fix this”.

      Agreed.

Blows my mind seeing so many of the Gator Nation pissed that we missed him.

He was never going to UF. He’d much rather face the cupcake defenses out west versus those of the SEC.

That used to be true, but some people think the Pac 12 is the best football conference in the land. Even better than the SEC.
      The SEC is top heavy.

PAC12 used to be good, but they suck now. They won’t have a representative in the playoff.

That was my point, the SEC is top heavy and may win the Championship. Does that make the SEC the best conference. Depends how you measure “best” I guess.
Best QB’s in the country? PAC12 hands down.

Looks like Schiano might not be going to Tennessee because the fans were bitching about his role at Molester U.

We laugh at Schiano around here for the “toes on the line” thing, but what is currently happening to him is bullshit. No one has ever tied him to knowing about Sandusky. Are they going to call for all graduates of Penn State to be fired next?

@Leeroybuc93 Agreed, This is a bs line of reasoning that anyone and everyone tangentially related to the Sandusky case is unemployable. The fact that this leaked out ahead of time and they backtracked just hurt his future employment opportunities as well.

We spent hours & hours interviewing & background checks on Greg Schiano. Yes we didn’t win. Fact-he’s honest, awesome father/husband, & an excellent football coach. This shouldn’t be whether YOU think you like him or not, you don’t even know him. #Meyer #Belichick ask them.

@leeroybuc93, agree 100%. I cannot believe the school succumbed to the protest considering there was about only 100 protestors. Schiano may have sucked here, but he deserves another shot at being a college HC.

Steve White was not thrilled with the hire, and they tend to listen to alumni. Boosters.

Fat Albert threatened to pull his support/money in a tweet. Later tweeted they he never heard of schiano until this and it was the PS rumor that prompted the first tweet.

Can we go back to print news, with editors?

Schiano was ran out of town here on Fake news. Should have been given Carson Palmer and year three. His Buc defense improved both years here to 8th in the league, DVOA. Knoxville ran him out of town there on Fake news. Tennessee’s loss.
