Looking at all-time great coaches records, It took Bill Belichick 16 seasons to win 5 NFL championships. Vince Lombardi did it in 7 seasons. Chuck Noll won 4 in just a 6 season span. And, Oldtimers Curly Lambeau won 6 in 16 seasons, while it took ageless George Halas over 40 seasons to win 6!

      Man, Brady is struggling.

Coverage misread to start the game and leads to a pick.

Later he gets all the time in the world off of play-action and he just holds the ball and gets careless with the football and almost gives up a Sack > Fumble Recovery.

Then he gets the ball to the knuckledragger for a big play. Weird game for Brady so far.

That was DPI. You can’t blatantly grab a guy’s shoulder pads and/or arms as the ball is in the air and he’s trying to high point and adjust.

Mutual hand-fighting. Fine. That was not mutual hand-fighting. That was a clear grab to prevent a high-point adjustment to catch the football by a CB who was out of position. Shit refereeing changes the scope of the game.

Seeing this game makes me appreciate what the Bucs did 16 years ago that much more.

The Bucs played the late CCG, didn’t get back to Tampa until early Monday AM, then had to fly clear across the country on Tuesday while all the Raiders had to do was sit back and relax for a few days and take a bus down the California coast to San Diego.

And we STILL beat their asses!

And THAT is why so many hate the Patriots. It’s not that they win. People can appreciate that. It is how they get every GD call by the officials to go their way. I agree that there is an element of that to their legacy (and hence, animosity because of it).

However, I don’t believe there is evidence of actual systemic bias (as in, there is a directive on high or an implicit decree). I think its just a simple human cognitive bias issue coupled with the fact that the Patriots have been aware of an uncannily taken advantage of rules loopholes/issues:

      1) Like the Seahawks, they have taken advantage of the fact that, while the rules for route disruption post-5-yards (Illegal Contact) and Defensive Holding is clear, if they do_it_all_the_time, it will be perceived as commonplace by the officials and therefore won’t stand out (versus being over-physical downfield only on occasion).

      2) The Raiders for so many years were the most penalized teams in the league. There is virtually ZERO chance that these teams actually legitimately committed more penalties than other teams…over_and_over_and_over.

Simply, officials go into games with cognitive biases; “these are the Raiders, the most penalized team in the league for n number of years…so if I call x, y, and z…that will look/seem normal…and so I’ll call it”. They don’t actually consciously think this…but their subconscious does this work of its own volition and it infects their mental processing when the bullets are live.

Conversely, with the Patriots, its “these are the Patriots, the most well-oiled machine in the league with the best coaching…so if I see x, y, and z and I’m not certain…I juts won’t call it…because Patriots and great coaching and dynasty.”

Huh? Cooper Kupp was a gigantic loss for the Rams. Not to mention Gurley playing hurt. His best 2 weapons by far. That leaves Belichick only having to worry about Cooks which he can do with ease. People said Goff was terrible his rookie season and then turns around and gets to a SB. Now he’s terrible again? 😂 He’s easily one of the better young qb’s in the league.

Goff was overwhelmed but it’s hard to evaluate if McVay is micromanaging every play call and keeping him in the huddle so long that he can’t make adjustments at the line.

Goff was pressured on every play and the run game was non-existent – not because they couldn’t run it but rather they chose to drop back too much.

      No jet sweep

      No PA

      No screens

Then terrible pass pro offensive line grades across the board.

Pinning this on Goff, even when he played poorly, is for amerature minds.

Didn’t watch the game huh? All of the things you said the Rams didn’t do, they did for most of the game. Especially PA passing. Screens didn’t work out and neither did the jet sweeps with Woods, BUT they did run those plays contrary to your inaccurate assessment.

      Goff career stats

      9,581 yards

      65 TD’s

      26 INT’s

      94.7 QBR

      YEA, he’s real “mediocre” 😂

Sean McVay: “I was outcoached”. Says it all.

He joins the Dolphins’ Don Shula as coach of the lowest scoring team in Super Bowl history. Shula’s Dolphins responded the following season by posting the first and only perfect season in NFL history. I don’t expect that from the Rams…

Put Goff on the Jags if you want proof he’s mediocre.

Put him on a team with a bottom 5 defense, a bottom 5 OL like the Bucs do you think he’s going to the SB? For real? You that dense?

Wake TFU. Rams have top tier OL, defense and coaching. He is a piece in the system. If he was great he would have lead his team to more than 3 f’ing points when they met their match and needed Goff to come up big he wilted big time.

If Cook doesn’t drop that pass in the end zone late they would of been right in it, maybe won.

he dropped the pass because goff was late on his read and flew a wounded duck to him.

dude was wide open and waiting for the ball for 2 seconds.

that was all on goff though

I’m not saying Goff is great and not a product of the system but that O Line was not elite.. not last night anyway. Pats D wanted it! They were in his kitchen all game. Great game by Edelman but Hightower or Gilmore probably should have gotten MVP.

Game is 10-3, Pats…..is the game on delay in Germany?

No. I was holding out ope that the Rams would stop NE on that drive at the time if my memory serves me correctly. I have the NFLs Gamepass package. It gets all games in live (with maybe a 10 second delay, although unfortunately they removed the A-22 feature a few years ago.

      Goff looked horrible last night.

Actually hes looked bad in the last few. They’re missing cupp and also mcvay isnt using Gurley for some reason.  Last night bill showed him looks he couldn’t figure it out and was forced to hold onto the ball and got pounded all game.  It really shows u how much coaching and experience matters

Not sure how anyone can say they enjoyed watching that game.  I enjoyed hanging out with my buddies and the spread of food and the drinks and even the commercials incredibly more than the game itself.  If it wasn’t for Edelman being uncoverable, then a punter should have been MVP.  Maybe Hightower or Pats D as a whole.

That game blew.   Kudos to the Pats D.

Games like yesterday are the reason why the league is giving offenses more advantages and are protecting the QB. The casual fan thinks defensive battles are boring. You can’t have it both ways. Can’t criticize the league for doing what they can to drive up scoring and at the same time call a great defensive battle “boring”.

Last night was true football. Coaching chess match, trench battles, defense and running the ball deciding the game.

AJ the ball Cooks supposedly dropoed in the end zone was a blown coverage. Nobody covered Cooks and despite having time to throw, Goff’s pass was late and the ball wasn’t dropped. McCourtney got there right when the ball got there and he broke it up.

There was no other pass in the end zone to Cooks, so your point that Goff threw to Cooks but he dropped the ball in the end zone is blatantly false. It’s just another example of how mediocre Goff really is. Calling him mediocre after that performance is being generous. Now stop making shit up and making excuses for him.

The Rams would’ve had a better chance to win with Jameis Winston than Jared Goff.

Goff dropped a ball right into Cooks’ breadbasket for game-tying TD.  Just like Brady did to Gronk on their TD drive, only Gronk came down with his.  There were two could-be TD-passes to Cooks.  One was on Goff, while the other was on Cooks.
