Agreed. The bald eagle has been the national bird since before Washington’s inauguration, but we should change that because Hitler liked it too.

The Nimrod Rule: If Buggsy posted it, it is wrong

“ For starters, the American eagle looks to its right, while the Nazi eagle looks to its left. President Truman actually mandated that the American eagle look to the right, toward the “direction of honor,” in an executive order following World War II.”

If you find yourself defending this, you’re probably a fascist sympathizer.

By the way some redneck making a trump card in his garage is not news. The fact that you two are using it as news to continue the left wing misinformation campaign where all the good people run around patting each other on the back for knowing that Trumpers are Nazi’s in disguise and none of them can spell is just about as dangerous as all the actually censored views that vaccines might be dangerous.

Entertaining to a point, but …

(This entire topic was discussed at length after the t-shirt, so if you think the choice for the card isn’t deliberate you’d have to believe that the Trump camp all had their memories zapped after the shirts

You suck at trying to put fake words into my mouth lol

IF YOU DONT LIVE IN THE COCOON and you have a brain and thumbs (3 strikes for Buggsy, right? )… you would know that the “look left” issue with the eagle was already very well known to the Trump camp because it came up in 2020 TWICE

      https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-election/donald-trump-nazi-tshirt-symbol-campaign-america-first-a9600466.html

IN FACT, the Truman quote I posted that clowned Buggsy came from an article discussing one of the 2020 controversies, a tshirt. The other was a campaign ad

So, to bring it all home this stuff is often boring because most of the Trumpers here are morons who only come here to try to “dis” people. This thread is a PRISTINE example because Buggsy posted something on her was flatly wrong, switched to nene calling and then just moved to another topic, albeit keeping the nam calling lol.

Same basic approach for Runole or Chron or One Tooth… so that’s about 90% of the Trump point of view.

      No

Is Trump a nativist snd a nationalist?

      Obviously

The eagle is an intentional thumb in the eye of detractors AND a deliberate choice of symbol fit a party that pushes white nationalism

Thanks for at least letting me know what you’re talking about. Now I still think, if you’re saying this new card is put out by the Trump “camp” and not the lincoln project then the Trump camp knows that this image caused some butt hurt in the past. So….

The Roman Eagles looked left, as did the Napoleonic Eagles. The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards cap badge has an eagle that looks left, as does the Royal Airforce.

Eagles have been used throughout history as emblems of power. Looking left, right or straight ahead. This smacks as someone has too much time on their hands and venom in their mind.

Look, if any normal campaign created an image that was even close to a Nazi symbol the image would disappear. Trumps campaign has used this symbol THREE TIMES -each time met with the same furor – because

      A) “owning the libs” is MAGA virtue signaling AND

      B) the Trump platform has always been nationalism and in particular “white fright” nationalism

      1) did the Nazis change the Weimar eagle from look right to look left?

No they did not. They replaced it with the Nazi eagle with the Swastika and wreath. What’s more the point I was making is the Nazi eagle does not look consistently to the right. It was used looking left and right.

      2) did Truman issue an EO having the official eagle on the seal look right?

Yes he did. But it was done as a symbol of peace, not because people thought it looked like the Nazi emblem.

Last but not least the “Trump” eagle is clearly a bald eagle which is only found in North America, so it makes no sense that they “copied” the Nazi eagle.

A mistake on my part. It doesn’t detract away from my point the Nazi’s utilized an eagle grasping a wreath with the swastika in the middle, with the eagle looking in both directions. It did not consistently look in any single direction, be it left or right.

No they did not. They replaced it with the Nazi eagle LOOKING LEFT with the Swastika and wreath

A mistake on my part. It doesn’t detract away from my point the Nazi’s utilized an eagle grasping a wreath with the swastika in the middle, with the eagle looking in both directions. It did not consistently look in any single direction, be it left or right.

      Understood

The point in this thread is t the historical details its that the two critiques I raised (look left, Truman) relating to the similarity to the Nazis symbol are WELL KNOWN to Trump BEFORE the card because the criticism is not new. It came up twice previously

They still went with it because of the stupid “own the libs” approach and because of the target market

But it was done as a symbol of peace, not because people thought it looked like the Nazi emblem

It was because right is the position of honor, according to Truman

Everything I had read thus far supports what I said. For example, this from wiki:

I think Truman even suggested as much and it was at a time when we were moving form war to peace, but some say the turn toward peace ( the olive branches ) is a myth. I don’t know I was only saying that Truman’s EO references the military tradition of right being the direction of honor

Here’s the Truman webpage saying both

“ The eagle’s head was turned to the right as the place of honor, but more importantly facing the olive branch symbolizing America as a nation of peace.”

“ Positions of Honor. The principle that the right side of a person or thing is the position of honor is a time honor tradition. The “right of the line” was the critical side in ancient battle formations and is the place of honor in ceremonies today.

o The first place of honor is always on the right. One should always afford seniors this position when walking, riding, or sitting with them. When joining up with a senior, always assume a position to his or her left.”

What’s more the point I was making is the Nazi eagle does not look consistently to the right. It was used looking left and right.

This is correct, and one of the many reason this point continues to be laughable:

the thing that makes this deliberate (historically speaking) is the look left.

lolz @ “the look left.” If it was looking right, I’m sure all would be right in the world for the TDS’ers.

You don’t think that 0.35% of population, or one million, are admittedly white supremacist?

      Really?

You really don’t think 1% of the population thinks white people are the superior race because… *checks notes* you don’t know one?

Pffffft No! The fact that you think that’s a given is one reason that every time you hear a loud noise you think a white supremacist just yelled “n*%%#&”

If you want to dilute it down to trying to find a million people who might think that their race is superior I assume you’ll count all the dark skinned people who think that. If you do you’d probably find the breakdown roughly similar between races but I’m getting off track. What you’re talking about is not what I’m talking about. A white supremacist is someone who not only believes that they are superior but also believes that the white race should dominate society to the exclusion of other racial or ethnic groups. I’m sure you think there are at least a million white supremacists using this criteria but I still think you’re bonkers.

Let’s see if we can get a little intellectual honesty from you with a couple simple history questions

      1) did the Nazis change the Weimar eagle from look right to look left?

      2) did Truman issue an EO having the official eagle on the seal look right?

I am not holding out hope for a simple “yes” and “yes”

      Lol

Who fucking cares…. what are the odds that Hitler changed the Weimar eagle to look left because the Weimar eagle looked right? jesus can you even believe that you’re arguing about this? I can’t.

Truman may have actually been trying to do the same thing… so what? So now right facing eagle for all time means “good” and left facing means “bad”.

At this point I’m on team Trump again. I hope he did do it just because he knew you and fire would be losing lots of sleep because of all the nightmares about which way the eagle is facing.

And wait…… I think I heard another loud noise! Another racist?

There is no basis in the left or right facing eagle meaning squat and the whole controversy seems to have started when some limp wrister leftist saw an eagle on some Trump PR and immedieatly thought it looked like a Nazi eagle…. There are millions of white nationalists.

The SPLC who considers the Catholic Church as a hate group says there are 450 white nationalist/supremacist groups in the USA. I haven’t found any membership numbers on that but did find this on the KKK.

      http://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/articles/2017-08-14/the-kkk-is-still-based-in-22-states-in-the-us-in-2017

Some 42 different Klan groups were active in 22 states as of June 2017, a slight increase from early 2016, according to a report from the Anti-Defamation League.

Nationwide, there are still an estimated 3,000 Klan members and unaffiliated people who “identify with Klan ideology,” according to the ADL. Membership, though, remains spread across dozens of groups. The largest Klans reportedly don’t have more than 50 to 100 active members, and most have fewer than 25.

Doesn’t sound like they are busting at the seams with members now does it? But let’s say, for arguments sake each one of these groups have the tops 100 members, still doesn’t equate to millions.

I’ve said this before, and I will say it again now, I think there are a lot less white supremacists bouncing around the country than you guys think.

I will add the disclaimer that if you find anything concrete to the contrary I’ll be more than happy to look at it

I am saying precisely what I typed, now several times.

      1) A normal US political organization would IMMEDIATELY reverse course with any connection to “NAZIS.”

      2) Trump’s organization had a controversy with this image and its similarity to the Nazis symbol with regard to a campaign t-shirt in 2020 (my Truman quote comes form an article discussing that 2020 controversy)

      3) Trump organization had the controversy arise again in 2020 with a different item (described in thread)

      4) Trump organization had other ads come down form similar symbols

      5) In 2021, Trump comes out with this card with the same controversial symbolism, so NO reasobalke argument that hey were unaware of the similarity

The SPLC who considers the Catholic Church as a hate group

That is false. You have identified yourself as a Catholic many times, so maybe you are offended by their actual stance?

THE SPLC identifies a number of radical traditionalist Catholic groups as hate groups, primarily for their written views on Jews and women.

Taking your actual toyed words at face value would require one to say that all Christians drink venom or stand on the side of the road at soldier’s funerals screaming about “gays.”

I doubt anyone would agree with that.

Btw, the guy who was the TOP . . did I say “top” . . .The TOP immigration advisor to your guy, President Trump . . and actually the TOP architect of Trump’s immigration policy is a WHITE NATIONALIST

This is incorrect. Or at least incomplete. It does have a page dedicated to “Radical” Catholics, some of whom are clearly anti-semitic, but it also considers any Catholic Organization, and individual Priests I add, that hold Catholic Teaching on homosexuality etc as hate groups and/or preaching hate.

By that reckoning the Eagle scouts are offshoots of the Hitler Youth.

      2) Trump’s organization had a controversy with this image and its similarity to the Nazis symbol with regard to a campaign t-shirt in 2020 (my Truman quote comes form an article discussing that 2020 controversy)

This is, IMO, actually a closer proximity but still a stretch. It originated from a stock photo and was thoughtless.

      4) Trump organization had other ads come down form similar symbols

This was the red triangle. A KNOWN Antifa symbol, yet it only became an issue when Trump used it to denote/identify Antifa in an ad. Yet no-one had an issue with it BEFORE it was used in the ad, and no-one has an issue AFTER it was taken down. Antifa continue to use it and apparently that is totally fine.

Some people, yourself included, will take anything Trump does, says or even looks at and try to find a way to make it racist or white supremacist. If and when Trump et al do something truly racist, I will join you on the parapets, but the likes of this quite frankly is ridiculous. What’s more it is a shining example of why folks think you talk more sh*t than sense. The boy who cried wolf so as to speak; Stuff like this is just throwing jello on the wall. If and when you actually have something of merit to say, nobody is going to listen.
