      Didn’t see this coming

‘Grifters in our midst’: Rep. Dan Crenshaw slams GOP Freedom Caucus

Dan Crenshaw Praises Adam Kinzinger After Torching Freedom Caucus Republicans as ‘Grifters’ and ‘Performance Artists’

“There are two types of members of Congress: there is performance artists and there is legislators,” Crenshaw said. “Performance artists are the ones who get all of the attention, the ones you think are more conservative because they know how to say slogans real well. They know how to recite the lines that they know our voters want to hear.”

He then went on to call out members of the Freedom Caucus, which includes, among others, Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Jim Jordan (R-OH), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), and Paul Gosar (R-AZ) among others.

“What you hear so often is not true. It’s not true. We have grifters in our midst…I mean in the conservative movement. Lie after lie after lie because they know something psychologically about the conservative heart. We’re worried about what people are doing to do to us, what people are going to infringe upon us, that’s the nature of conservatism,” he continued.

He then pivoted to praise Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), who is one of two Republicans sitting on the House Select Committee investigation the events of January 6th and has fallen out of favor with former President Donald Trump, and his followers, despite — as Crenshaw notes — he voted with Trump 99 percent of the time.

@JBear – since you seem to want to style yourself as some sort of new age, freedom fighting thinker, I thought you might find it funny that one of the prominent responses to Crenshaw trashing grifter “performative artist” Trumpers is a from guy WHO ALSO POSTS ON GETTR and who seems a pretty ardent Trump supporter:

“People in Texas who voted for Dan Crenshaw thought they were getting another Ted Cruz, turns out it was another John McCain.”

a bit like something you might say, right?

should I go see if he also follows Andy Ngo?

This is the bias played to in the COCOON

HE IS ONE OF YOUR PEOPLE . . SPEAKING TO A VERY CONSERVATIVE TEXAS POLITICAL GROUP . . IN HARRIS COUNTY (the epicenter for Texas Trumpers)

It might be. Interesting tidbit but Justin Amash was a founding member of the Freedom caucus which he later quit when it became less and less libertarian minded.

Around the same time he was chair of the liberty caucus which remains mostly libertarian minded but is basically non existent in the current political environment. It boasts 7 members currently.

I’m not a fan of the freedom caucus but probably not of Crenshaw either.

That’s polite way to say it

Going back as far as my memory will let me in this instance, there has always been a “radical right” trying to control American politics, but with little success until Trump

The GOP has always flirted with them. In the Goldwater days it was his courting of the John Birch society before they were disbanded.

The same types of people, with the same basic beliefs took over the Tea Party.

The same types of people are 2021 (post-insurrection) Trumpers. Andy Biggs, Paul Gosar. True “stop the steal” loons

A group involved in racism, white supremacy, ultra-nationalism and religious extremism. The Freedom Caucus plays to many of those views
