Warren Sapp takes plea deal, avoids jail time in domestic violence casesapp_zpsv7mlu5tv.jpgAPLas Vegas Review JournalOct 1, 2015 at 8:04p ET  LAS VEGAS — Hall of Famer Warren Sapp took a plea deal Thursday that spares him jail time in a Las Vegas criminal case involving a scuffle with his former girlfriend that began after margaritas at a casino hotel swimming pool. The 42-year-old former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders defensive tackle pleaded no contest in Las Vegas Justice Court to one misdemeanor domestic violence charge, court officials said.A judge fined Sapp $345 and ordered him to pay $2,555 in restitution, log 48 hours of community service and six months of counseling, and stay out of trouble for six months. Two other misdemeanor domestic violence charges were dismissed.Sapp also has to stay away from the victim, prosecutor Lisa Luzaich said. He faces six months in jail if he violates terms of the deal.Sapp's attorney, Rich Tanasi, didn't immediately respond to messages.Sapp was charged in June with arguing with the woman and pulling her arm or purse in an April incident at the M Resort in Henderson, and knocking the woman down a short time later at her Las Vegas condominium. The woman told police she ended up on the floor and thought she may have suffered a concussion when Sapp stepped on the right side of her face. The accusation came just months after Sapp was fired as an on-air analyst for the NFL Network after a Feb. 2 arrest in Phoenix for assaulting and soliciting a prostitute during Super Bowl weekend. He pleaded guilty to both charges, and the solicitation charge was dropped after he completed a diversion program.Sapp played in the NFL from 1995 to 2007, and filed for bankruptcy in 2012.He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013.

Has he shown a bit of remorse? Other than losing his job and ttotally screwing up his broadcasting carreer, has he actually shown remorse for the way he treats people, especially women?I have my doubts but am hoping he CAN turn his life around and become a respected part of this community. That's on him and it's going to take time.

The hurricanes are a train wreck with Goldon maybe they give Warren a shot. They dont pay coaches being private and all but it would be a start for him in the coaching field.

Sapp doesn't seem the coaching type to me. I can't picture him putting up with a guy giving 90%. He would go ballistic.

He has to make a living somehow. And tv is out. Maybe just a assistant coach somewhere would be a start.

How can you place him over selmon or brooks?I agree though, no sapp, no superbowl. However, wouldnt you want your fav buc NOT be a douchebag? My favorites were brooks and the atrain, but i guess sapp will always have some sort of place with buc fans.

I don't care about his off the field shenanigans...between the white lines, he bought that edge that we've been missing since his departure.

Staying out of Arizona couldn't hurt either. You couldn't pay me to go into Arizona. (or Texas, for that matter. :) )I'd still like to see him back on the air. I know it wouldn't be soon, but if Marv Albert can get back onto the airwaves, most others can as well.

That is true. The dl has lacked fire.I'm just saying, you might as well say your fav buc was kellen winslow at this point. But, eh, he does have big production numbers so i totally understand the diff.Still, many productive bucs with better personalities. Lynch, wilder, dunn, selmon, alstott, brooks, etc
