The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have yet to announce any hirings on the coaching front, but the team apparently has yet another vacancy to fill.

PewterReport.com has learned that the Bucs will not renew the contract of strength and conditioning coordinator Garrett Giemont, who joined the team in 2003.

There’s a strong possibility that Bucs assistant strength and conditioning coach Mike Morris will be promoted, although it’s not yet clear whether he’ll replace Giemont. Morris originally joined the Bucs in 2002.

It other news, it appears as though the Bucs have found the man they want to replace defensive line coach Rod Marinelli, who left Tampa Bay to become a head coach in Detroit.

PewterReport.com has learned that Southern Cal defensive line coach Jethro Franklin has emerged at the top of the list to serve in the same capacity as Marinelli.

However, the Bucs are still attempting to find a way to get Franklin out of his contract with the Trojans.

The 40-year old Franklin has 14 years worth of experience coaching defensive lines in college – most recently with USC – and in the NFL – with Green Bay (2000-04).

The Bucs have been conducting dozens of interviews since their season ended in an effort hire a new defensive line coach, defensive backs coach and offensive and defensive quality control coaches.

When asked for comment on Thursday, Bucs general manager Bruce Allen stated that no coaching announcements had been made yet.
