After a three-week search the Buccaneers have finally named decided on their new general manager, tabbing Arizona's Vice President of Player Personnel Jason Licht to fill the role with the organization, according to FOX Sports Insider Jay Glazer. Licht had been a part of four Super Bowl teams during his 19-year NFL career.
The Buccaneers three-week search for a general manager is over according to multiple reports on Monday.

Jason Licht (pronounced LIGHT) spent the last three seasons in the Arizona front office, including last year as the Cardinals Vice President of Player Personnel.

Licht started his NFL career in Miami in1995, serving as an assistant in the college and pro personnel scouting departments for the Dolphins before becoming an offensive assistant/quality control coach in 1996. In 1997, he worked for National Football Scouting (NFS), a college football scouting service, before joining Carolina’s scouting staff in 1998.

He was hired by the Patriots in 1999 as a college scout and was elevated to national scout in 2001 and then to assistant director of player personnel in 2002.

Licht then joined the Eagles in 2003 as the club’s assistant director of player personnel until being promoted in 2006 to Vice President of Player Personnel. After the 2008 season, Licht left for New England again where he spent three seasons (2009-11) as the Director of Pro Personnel with the Patriots.

During Licht’s career, he has been part of four Super Bowl teams (New England—XLVI, XXXVI, Arizona—XLIII, and Philadelphia—XXXIX).

Tampa Bay reportedly interviewed Atlanta's Lionel Vital, Tennessee's Lake Dawson,Washington's Morocco Brown and the Giants Marc Ross before the hiring of Licht on Tuesday.

Ahhh! The 60s. What a time. What an experience. The music alone was killer.

With all of the German phrases it seems like October Fest. Those "light" references by macabee and jjtix were just too easy. I'll go old school with "C'mon baby Licht my fire" and "Lovie Lovie Lovie all the time" from those good old 60's songs.

I am very comfortable with the new GM because he has a very solid foundation to build a solid dynasty.

I'm glad we didn't go with Vital after Dimitroff endorsed him. Licht resume suggests he knows what he's doing, being a part of 4 super bowl teams and all.

Welcome aboard Jason! I understand his surname is pronounced "LIGHT". Looks like Lovie has found a "BUD". Had to say that before scubog did! lol

I can't wait to se what is down the way for the new bucs.Iam very glad that Seattle made it to the Superbowl vs Denver. I really believe that Seattle had to grow up in a hurry to over throan the bucs early in the year. I believe that game was the turning point for seattle-GO BUCS

I like the hire. He seems to have had success at many of his previous stops. He's moved around a lot, but since he'll be taking a job as the highest ranking front office guy at the highest level of football he can't be promoted any further, so I expect he'll be here for a while. Go Bucs! Can't wait to hear the press conference.

When he was with the Pats from 1999 till 2003...did he find Brady?!

LOL! In German "Licht" means exactly Light! Da ist ein Licht am Ende des Tunnels :D

    Tatsächlich :-) und hoffentlich.....

Impressive resume, sure hope this works out. I was concerned about his scout skills but they look pretty good. All we need now is for Lovie and Licht to gel.
