Blockbuster trades in the NFL are a rarity so when the news came out last spring that the Buccaneers and Jets were contemplating a trade to bring star cornerback Darrelle Revis to Tampa some were skeptical that the deal would go through.

Then, even after the trade came to fruition, there was the big question of how Revis would rebound and respond to an ACL injury.

The questions were answered emphatically as Revis not only was able to start all 16 games for Tampa Bay and earn a Pro Bowl berth, but was also named The Sporting News Comeback Player of the Year.

Revis admittedly was never 100 percent during the course of the season, something the coaching staff hid by playing more zone coverage than expected, drawing the ire of many fans and even some in the media.

Revis seemed to get stronger each week and finished his first season with the Buccaneers with 50 tackles, two interceptions and 11 passes defended.

With a Pro Bowl honor at less than 100 percent, most are eager to see how good Revis can be fully recovered from the ACL injury in new head coach Lovie Smith’s system.
