Bucs Concerned About Phillips' Thumb Injury
Bucs starting S Jermaine Phillips suffered a broken thumb during Tampa Bay's 33-20 loss to Buffalo on Sunday. Bucs head coach Raheem Morris said the team was "concerned" about Phillips' injury. Also, Bucs C Jeff Faine has been ruled out of the Giants game, and WR Antonio Bryant is listed as day-to-day.
   
Morris Calls Out Adams, Hints He May Be Replaced
Bucs head coach Raheem Morris called out DE Gaines Adams, Tampa Bay's first-round pick in 2007, on Monday for his failure to get to the quarterback during Tampa Bay's 0-2 start. Morris said that Adams has lacked fire and not played as fast and as hard as he did a year ago, and may be replaced in the starting lineup.
   
Bucs Have 31st-Ranked Defense Due To Sloppy Play
Tampa Bay's defense struggled mightily in its first two games of the 2009 regular season, and it's no coincidence both contests resulted in losses. Tampa Bay's defense, which finished 11 of 13 seasons ranked in the top 10 under Monte Kiffin,  currently ranks 31st in the NFL.

Bucs Place Phillips On Injured Reserve
The Buccaneers placed starting safety Jermaine Phillips on injured reserve Tuesday. Phillips sustained a broke thumb in a 33-20 loss to the Bills Sunday. With Tanard Jackson still serving his four-game suspension, Bucs backup S Will Allen will fill in for Phillips. The Bucs also released safety Steve Cargile.

Bucs Sign DBs Hamilton, Lynch
The Bucs signed cornerback Marcus Hamilton and safety Corey Lynch Wednesday. Hamilton, who originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick with the Bucs, and Lynch fill the two 53-man roster spots created by safeties Jermaine Phillips and Steve Cargile.
