For Danny Lansanah, a win this Sunday would not only be a monumental achievement to share with his teammates, but a great personal victory in his career, too.
It took being released by four NFL teams before the versatile linebacker found his way to Tampa. The first team to cut him? The Green Bay Packers.
On Thursday, Lansanah spoke about his brief stint in Green Bay in 2008. And while he’ll always be thankful for the coaches and players that introduced him to the NFL, he’s looking forward to getting revenge.
“Those were the guys (Winston Moss, A.J. Hawk) during my first year in the league, so they started the foundation for me and I appreciate it. But I’m here (now) and ready to play against those guys.”
“I tried to play if off in the beginning of the week, but there’s definitely some motivation. I’ll put my best foot forward to try to show those guys that they missed out on a good player.”
Any retaliation against his former team will be in good nature, though. Lansanah recalled the times of being subject to Aaron Rodgers famous celebration after the former league MVP would get one by him in practice.
Sunday is his chance to return the favor.
“I might throw it back to him if I make a big play on him,” he said jokingly. “He got me a few times in practice and did his discount double check move on me. It’s going to be big going out there with him and trying to make plays against him.
“I’m definitely going to talk trash, I still have some good friends that played there. It’ll be exciting.”
