So Joe Bucs Fan was full of crap with all AFC vs NFC games the first 4 weeks, due to the possibility of games cancelled at the beginning of the season because of COVID-19?

It should be very instructive that CEH is being invoked here.

What does CEH have in common with the 4 rare RBs I mentioned above?

He’s a rare, dynamic, reliable weapon in the passing game. He kills LBs/S on Angle/Option/Arrow routes. He can line up in the Slot and win on Whips, Shallow Digs, and Quickouts. He’s also an absolute tackle-breaker and terrifically elusive in the open field.

And he’s got the transferable traits in the running game (vision, patience and burst, fantastic balance-through-first level contact, short area elusiveness and change-of-direction).

Him getting drafted 1st is basically the perfect examples of NFL RB 101:

    1) What matters overwhelmingly is Passing Game Play-making and reliability.
    2) Long speed is_utterly_overrated.

…and what does that have to do with everyone saying, “CEH has 2nd round value,” but he was picked in the 1st?

It doesn’t mean its a poor player, just that he could have been drafted a round later or so the story goes.

But Licht needed a RB, he had no 4th round picks, and he rightly judged that the player or players he wanted would be long gone by the 5th. So he just had to take the player he wanted and be done with it. It was just the situation he was in due to the trades for Gronk and Wirfs.

….and that’s what everyone said about CEH too. If a team really wanted CEH and moved up into the 1st to get him, everyone would be saying how dumb it was, not knowing that in a parallel universe the Chiefs take him at 32. If Licht and the Scouting dept. think Vaugn will be better than the “9th” RB, then they did the right thing.

I don’t know how anyone could find out the numbers. I wonder if the Buccs ticket offices even know the answer? What is the percentage of season tickets that are owned by scalpers? It doesn’t matter if the team is good or bad, the crowd always seems 60/40 Buccs fans to visiting fans.

Licht played himself. Plain and simple. Think about a GM who goes by what Mel Kiper says, over learning things for himself. A good GM could give two shits about someone else’s draft board. The draft is not some vacuum where only certain players are worthy of such and such a round grade, because McShay thinks so. Your job, more than any one thing is to live a breathe talent evaluation. Period. That is how a GM is graded. And too often, Licht will acquiesce to those ESPN honks, and draft a VHIII, OJ Howard, Spence, because that is who Prisco said to draft. You have to be better than that. He’s not.

Super glad Wirfs didn’t cost us much capital. Licht is as in over his head today, as he was day one.

Funny, considering how you were making Spence out to be the next big thing every year he was here.

And, since you’re reeling off his “1st round failures“, you should also include his first one.

HockeyDuckie – I don’t believe your comprehension of that interview is correct. Licht wouldn’t know the all the dealings the 49ers. Licht doesn’t know who is bidding on the 49ers pick. You are putting too much stock in a media quote from the wrong GM regarding the 49ers pick.

Thank you. HD only heard and understood what he wanted to hear. Licht saying “potential partners” doesn’t mean there weren’t actually any calls made to Lynch. HD seems to think Lynch would have told Licht about all the other calls he may or may not have been taking. Part of the draft process is guessing what other teams may do and preparing for that. HD just wants to be a hater.

I don’t think the Vaughn pick was trashed so much for the player as it was for the value.

Neither of you know what the value is. You’re both fooling yourselves if you think you do. If he sucks it was a waste of value. If he becomes an All-Pro, it was a steal. But guys like you think it was bad value because someone else told you he had a 4th round grade.

Some of us knew Licht must’ve had a reason for trading up. Licht didn’t bid against himself, like wrongly overstated. Seems to me SF would’ve taken Wirfs, but knowing they had the cap room to trade for Williams, got 2 good players instead. Great move by Licht.

Been a diehard Bucs fan for 43 years, so why do I have to move now MASTER.
Speaking of moving: Patrick Mahommes just won a Super Bowl, was he black enough to dispel your racist belief that no black QB will ever win another SB, or do we have to wait for a darker colored one to accomplish the task for you to move to a 21st century mindset.

If you are both entertaining this stupid topic, you’re both lost. Doug Williams says this is a dumb argument to make, and even dumber to refute seeing as it has already happened.

You are too easy to attack. You are such a miserable person with such a sad existence, you can’t share in the happiness and joy of what the NFL draft is….HOPE. Instead you choose to be angry, miserable, sad and self righteous by picking out and shouting from the roof tops about all the possible bad that could become of the draft because the GM didn’t pick the players, or make the moves YOU THOUGHT he should make. You’re right, this is a discussion board, not the suicide hotline. Cheer the fuck up you whiney bitch.
