You would spend hours reviewing Madden rookie rankings? You must not get out that much

Analytics made interesting! Nice job Trevor that was great to read

I haven’t been this excited about any Bucs pick including Jameis. Reading your analysis (which I thought was excellent) just further confirmed my belief that this was the steal of the draft. The only reason I think he fell to the Bucs was because they were the first team with the luxury of not needing a player in the more glorified…[Read more]

Reports are that Doug Martin is looking and acting great. Although I was still expecting for them to take a RB by the end of the 3rd round. I hope they address that today. Even with Doug we are still thin at RB
jshumaker commented on the post, Shelton: Buccaneers Catch A Falling Star In Howard 1 month ago
I could easily see Howard being offensive rookie of the year. No offensive player was as highly ranked and slid all the way to a team that is being picked by many to reach the playoffs
I like the comparison to the Christmas gift that you just can’t afford. Mike Evans has got to be ecstatic because that just shut down nearly every double team
jshumaker commented on the post, Licht, Koetter Surprised Howard Was Available For Bucs At No. 19 1 month ago
I guess teams still consider TE a luxury pick as compared to a needs pick. It was the one thought I had which made me believe Howard could fall to the Bucs.
I agree RB is a must (today not tomorrow) but the reports are that Doug looks really good. So I think we are in a win-win situation on RB
jshumaker commented on the post, Why The Bucs Passed On Florida State RB Cook 1 month ago
Agreed, they should pass on this guy no matter what. He is not worth the risk.
My vote for today is 2nd round take the BPA at DB/S and 3rd round RB
On a different topic, did anybody know that John Lynch was a fierce negotiator? He played the Bears like Rex Ryan played the Bucs on the Revis trade

PR, this is a bit off topic but I was curious what your thoughts were on the chances of Reuben Foster sliding far enough for the Bucs to grab him? Nobody has even discussed the Bucs picking a LB but if he is available then why not pick him.
jshumaker commented on the post, Pewter Report’s 2017 WRs Draft Preview + Bucs’ Best Bets 1 month, 1 week ago
I agree that an early round pick on WR is a must in this draft unless they draft TE (Njoku) in the 1st round. Njoku has been my top choice for months. Regardless if it is WR/TE or McCaffrey Jameis needs another serious weapon to throw to
jshumaker commented on the post, Bucs Pick Up Fifth-Year Option For WR Evans 1 month, 1 week ago
I am very much in favor of Licht using hardball strategies to get our players signed as cheaply as possible. But from a cap standpoint, why not take the hit now while they have the room? By using the threat of a future franchise tag, they can force Evans to sign at a more reasonable rate.
I don’t know much about how these options work but I don’t see why it would take a contract extension off the table for this year. I think it makes sense to give him the big payday now and therefore spread out the cap hit by an extra year at the minimum

jshumaker commented on the post, Cover 3: The Value Of A Draft Pick; Peppers A Fit For Bucs Defense 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Very in depth analysis which I appreciate. Although my vote is still for Njoku. You mention that the TE is being used more these days to create mismatches. Njoku is clearly a physical mismatch. Plus the o-line could use some help and Jameis likes to throw to his TE.
If Peppers slides to the 2nd round then trade up and get him. Your comment…[Read more]

I remember a quote from Bill Parcells about one of the most important aspects of a RB is the amount of tread still on the tires.

Yes they do need to spend a decent pick on a safety but I don’t think a 1st round pick is needed. I want to see Jameis with a couple more weapons. Granted it was only a couple games that the defense really shined last year, but those few games were so impressive that I don’t want to see the 1st pick spent on defense. As Buc fans we have never…[Read more]
After the 1st round I have no clue, but I am with you on Njoku. Jameis likes to throw to his TE so give him what he wants
jshumaker commented on the post, TE Njoku’s Athleticism Shined At Miami Pro Day; Effort Raised Questions 2 months ago
Of all the players that should be available when the Bucs pick, Njoku is my favorite. I like him more than Cook, McCaffery and Ross. RB’s do not have a high success rate as 1st round picks and Ross has injury concerns. Plus a TE would help the o-line a bit.

Variation also probably means one of the offensive play makers that we all have on our wish list is probably going to drop to us
