I hear you, but if a player is going to be around later in the draft then it doesn’t make sense to use an early pick. In that case, even if the draft is a crap shoot, better to trade down.

I’m glad he’s scouting for the draft, but he hope he still is looking at free agency. Bucs have some major holes to still fill on both lines and then there’s that pesky RB situation.
Can’t fill everything from the draft. Not enough picks.
I hope Bucs don’t pick James. If he’s the best available, then we have no choice, but please tell me he’s…[Read more]

I think we’ll draft a RB in the first or second and then a second one in the sixth or seventh and maybe an undrafted FA.

I am very happy with free agency so far. I think we have a gaping hole at RB, but the price for the talent was too inflated, except for Isaiah Crowell. Is there something about him I don’t know? Bucs could have had him for peanuts and certainly Bucs are preferable to Jets, right?
If Chubb, Nelson and PS RB are not available at seven, I hope we…[Read more]

Two quick FA questions.
1. Did the Bucs even try to get Crowell since he ended up signing for peanuts with the Jets?
2. Are Bucs looking at any other RBS in FA? Like Thomas Rawls?

This is way off topic, but why didn’t the Bucs sign Crowell? Jets got him for peanuts. It is very probable I don’t know what I’m talking about, but he struck me as the best FA RB.

A lot of glass is half empty types in pewter land. Not every free agent is going to have the impact of a Lawrence Taylor or Warren Sapp. Somebody has to sit on the bench and this guy is better than the guy he’s replacing.
A step in the right direction.
I am very happy with the Bucs free agent moves so far.

Preaching to the choir. The Bucs need to draft better. The only thing worse than their draft record is their free agent record.
A kicker in the second round? Good God. Even the worst fantasy football player knows not to overvalue kickers.

I have plenty of criticism for the Bucs, but think they are behaving rather sensibly with free agency right now.
I’ve been a Boston Red Sox fan my whole life and I used to delude myself in the late seventies and early eighties when the Sox rather poorly attempted to copy the Yankees model. They signed plenty of high priced free agents, but few…[Read more]

Criticizing the Bucs for not signing a free agent running back assumes that there was top talent (there really wasn’t except for Crowell) and that the available rbs were worth the money. They weren’t.
I think the Bucs should sign a veteran rb at this point to play for maybe a year and put their hopes on the draft the next two years. Ultimately…[Read more]

Another solid cost effective move. Secure your own players first. Then free agency. Then draft.
Bucs are doing well so far.

Evans seems to do ok with an “inaccurate” QB. It’s not like Garo Yepremian is suiting up as QB for the Bucs.
There’s a big difference between having a sucky QB and requiring a QB to throw perfect passes when you’re not being covered too closely.
Every time the Bucs go with grade A talent with big egos they get burned. Give me a guy who loves the game and fights his way into the starting lineup rather than one who thinks he’s God’s gift to the NFL and deserves to be there.
Give me a Cameron Brate over a Desean Jackson every time.

If we can’t get Bradley Chubb or Nelson, we just need to trade down. After those two nobody is worth a number seven pick.
I don’t want a repeat of 2016 where we have a decent draft position and squander the pick on the best available player. We should have traded down then. We should trade down now.

Do not trade Brate for a pick. Players like him are rare.

Sign up Brate for a long term contract.Do not let him go.
Money well spent. Best WR in the league.
Now we just need to get him some support.
O-line and RB in FA and the draft.
And, Isaiah Crowell!

Jackson? Jackson who?
The poster child for getting stars from the draft, not from high priced free agents.
