NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks released his first mock draft earlier this week and offered up his opinion on who the Bucs will take, as well as the rest of the league. While most early mocks have had Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston going in the first two picks, Brooks doesn’t agree.

No way Mariota slides to 18.. If he slips into the back end of the top ten Eagles will jump.

I said in the Dominik articles that I didn’t trust his judgement on player evaluation despite the fact that he favors Mariota as I do. So I’m objective. Despite being an ex-scout, Bucky Brooks is horrible at mock drafts. Just horrible. If you check out his history at mock drafts it’s pathetic. Mike Greenburg said something recently on Mike&Mike that I think is true of many (not all) in the sports journalism business. He said he’s in the “interesting” business. He’s looking for the story in or around the game, not the final score of game itself. There’s no accountability… Read more »

The thing is anyone who does their own mock draft will only get about3-4 right anyway so to say this one or another one is accurate or inaccurAte is hilarious cause nobody knows how it will really turn out

Absolutely right JonnyG. Out of 32 selections it is typically under a half-dozen correctly slotted. I once got nine in the Scubog Mock Draft and was thrilled. You’d think with so many experts there would be a consensus of the first five, but all they do is echo each other. What I’ve learned in my 35 plus years following the Draft closely is that, as you said, no one knows. Pure guesswork.

I don’t post much, but I’ve been following PP since 2008, NFL drafts for even longer… a Bucky Brooks mock draft is meant only for the casual fans. the more i read about some of the opinions out there, I realize that no one knows anything. The big name journalists are getting their info from insiders at different teams, hence they are getting their info second or even third hand. Everyone and their mothers are putting a mock up there since its the fashionable thing to do right now and anyone with pulse has the right to an opinion. I… Read more »

Don’t you just love Pewter Reports one sided reporting of late. Every Mock Draft they post has their boy Winston going to the Bucs. How about posting McShay’s Mock Draft or the many other Mocks that have Mariota going to the Bucs. I’m out until April.
