While a few lucky teams got franchise QBs with a third or sixth pick, the best chance of getting a franchise QB is through the first round pick by far. You just don’t find them in free agency very often. Licht picks based on best player available. We didn’t need to waste a second pick on a TE when we had Wright who I believe was more productive last year than our 2d round pick has shown so far, so I am not a big fan of picking the best available when we could have taken the rookie OL in the draft that Dallas got and made a dramatic difference in our record this year and Licht has never picked a QB in the first round. He’d rather take a late round QB and gamble he’ll be another Brady. That foolishness is why he has been a nomad drifting from team to team. I think he is scared to make a bad pick on a first round QB, because that can cost you your job like Dom did. Scott, what do you have against picking up Max off the Houston Practice Squad to play MLB for free. Why waste a second round pick for a MLB when we can have a free Urlacher Clone to really make our Tampa2 stop both passes and runners too. Didn’t you see Max Bullough beat Ohio State last year?
