It usually takes a complete team effort for a NFL team to win football games on Sundays. The same can be said for those who attempt to put on successful charity golf tournaments, which is exactly what the game plan was on Sunday.
Bucs players Josh Bidwell, Chris Hovan and Michael Pittman left their helmets and cleats at One Buccaneer Place while Pewter Report put away its notepads and tape recorders to come together for one day and help generate awareness and money for the Children’s Cancer Center by hosting the inaugural Bidwell-Hovan-Pittman Pewter Report Charity Golf Tournament at Westchase Golf Club on June 10.
Over 100 golfers participated in the inaugural Bidwell-Hovan-Pittman Pewter Report Charity Golf Tournament, which successfully raised over $13,000 for the Children’s Cancer Center.
In addition to Bidwell, Hovan and Pittman, nearly 20 current and former Bucs players participated in the Pewter Report Charity Golf Tournament, including wide receivers Michael Clayton and Mark Jones, linebacker Barrett Ruud, quarterback Luke McCown, tight ends Anthony Becht and Alex Smith, tackle Jeremy Trueblood, kicker Matt Bryant, offensive linemen Dan Buenning and Jeb Terry, fullback Jon Goldsberry and defensive tackle Ellis Wyms.
The list of former Bucs players turned golfers (at least for one day) included punter Mark Royals, wide receiver Kevin House and safety Mark Robinson.
Also on hand was Cheap Trick lead singer Robin Zander, who won first place in the golf tournament with the help of his teammates, WTAN Talking Sports radio host Randy Harris, Ben Harris, Pittman and his Zander’s own son, Robin Jr.
The golfers that registered for the Bidwell-Hovan-Pittman Pewter Report Charity Golf Tournament, which was a full event, were treated to:
*Sports memorabilia live and silent auction, with many Buccaneers merchandise prizes courtesy of Sports Fan-Attic and the framing for several sports memorabilia items donated by Ken Fagan of A Picture Place
While all of the golfers appreciated the opportunity to participate in the Bidwell-Hovan-Pittman Pewter Report Charity Golf Tournament, none of them were fortunate enough to win the $25,000 car give-away for a hole-in-one courtesy of Ed Morse Automotive Group.
But that’s okay because there were a plethora of other prizes won throughout the course of the golf tournament.

Pewter Report would like to thank everyone who participated in — and/or contributed in some form or fashion to — the Bidwell-Hovan-Pittman Pewter Report Charity Golf Tournament.
With the first event under our belt, Pewter Report plans to make the charity golf tournament an annual event and hopes to raise even more than $13,000 for the Children’s Cancer Center in 2008.
Pewter Report sincerely appreciates all of the contributions and donations made by several people and companies, most of which are listed below. Without you, successful charity golf tournaments like this one wouldn’t be possible. Thank you!
