Pewter Report is proud to announce that its partnership with WDAE 620 AM The Sports Animal has reached a 10th season.
WDAE has established itself as not only the leader for sports talk radio and Bucs information in the Tampa Bay area, but also as a powerful force on the AM radio dial with its broad signal strength and massive listening audience. Pewter Report, through its PewterReport.com Web site, is recognized as a leader in breaking Bucs news and inside scoop found nowhere else.
WDAE, which is owned by Clear Channel, is the official AM radio station of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Buccaneers Radio Network, which features the Jon Gruden Show and a host of other Buccaneers players shows during football season. The inside scoop and analysis on the Bucs by the Pewter Report staff offers a unique, reporter-based complement to the opinions of the regular lineup of WDAE radio personalities and the viewpoints from the Buccaneers players shows.
Once again, Pewter Report publisher Scott Reynolds will be a guest on “The Steve Duemig Show” in 2008, co-hosting “The PewterReport.com Buccaneer Blitz” program with Duemig from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays each week from training camp until the conclusion of the Bucs’ season.
The show originated in 1999 and has grown in popularity with Buccaneers fans and WDAE listeners. Pewter Insider subscribers can hear the exclusive replays of “The PewterReport.com Buccaneer Blitz” show the following day on PewterReport.com.
“Steve and I are excited to bring a great hour of Buccaneer-related talk back to the airwaves with the PewterReport.com Buccaneer Blitz for a 10th year,” Reynolds said. “While his opinions can be considered controversial at times, ‘The Big Dog’ generates the highest sports talk radio ratings in Tampa Bay for a single reason – people want to hear what he has to say. Steve is an authority on football, and he and I have a great on-air chemistry together. While we may not always agree, we are respectful of each other’s opinions and bring an awful lot of insight and information about the Buccaneers to listeners in that hour. That’s what makes the show so popular.”
Duemig, a veteran of Tampa Bay radio for 15 years, has also hosted several Buccaneers player shows throughout the years with Mike Alstott, Derrick Brooks, Dave Moore, Booger McFarland, Michael Clayton, Joey Galloway and Davin Joseph.
The renewal of “The PewterReport.com Buccaneer Blitz” show was potentially in doubt due to an on-air incident on January 22 in which it was said that Pewter Report would not return to WDAE in 2008 during Duemig’s show.
“I apologize for the comments I made regarding Pewter Report and its message board members,” Duemig said. “I did not mean to group all PewterReport.com message board members together when I made some remarks in the heat of the moment. Those comments were meant for a select a few listeners, who happen to be message board members, and they know who they are.
“Our opinions may differ from time to time, but I have a great deal of respect for Scott Reynolds, Pewter Report’s reporting and its subscribers, many of whom are WDAE listeners.”
Reynolds accepted the apology on behalf of Pewter Report and awaits the start of the 10th year of Bucs conversation with Duemig on WDAE as “The PewterReport.com Buccaneer Blitz” show will start again at Bucs training camp in late July.
“Steve and I have developed a friendship over the years that this incident won’t tarnish,” Reynolds said. “This partnership is stronger than that. Pewter Report appreciates the opportunity to share the airwaves with Tampa Bay’s top-rated talk radio host and bring our style of Bucs reporting and analysis to WDAE’s vast audience.”
WDAE programming director Mike Killabrew said he is looking forward to another great year of Bucs conversation on “The PewterReport.com Buccaneer Blitz” show.
“We feel it is in everyone’s best interests to continue this popular show,” Killabrew said. “We know that Pewter Report understands the value of partnering with WDAE and we have cleared the air of any issues that may have prevented that from happening. We welcome Pewter Report back on The Sports Animal in 2008.”
WDAE has also green-lighted another year of the “Pewter Pulse” segment on “The Dan Sileo Show,” which features Pewter Report editor-in-chief Jim Flynn. “The Pewter Pulse” can be heard Mondays at 8:30 a.m. throughout Buccaneers football season from August through January.
“I enjoy being a guest on Dan’s show and appreciate the opportunity,” Flynn said. “Bringing Pewter Report’s unique post-game analysis to Dan’s audience on WDAE each Monday morning is something that I, as well as a lot of Buccaneers fans, look forward to.”
