Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Michael Pittman suffered a serious ankle injury during Sunday's 33-14 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. According to Bucs head coach Jon Gruden, Pittman will be sidelined for 6-8 weeks or possibly longer.Â
Pittman is still undergoing tests to determine the full extent of his injury. In the meantime, Earnest Graham and rookie Kenneth Darby will carry the workload at running back. The Bucs likely will attempt to sign or trade for a running back as well.
Gruden joked at his press conference that he would call on cornerback Ronde Barber to help him lure his twin brother, retired Giants RB Tiki Barber, out of retirement and that he had former Lions RB Barry Sanders' number in his cell phone.Â
In other injury news, Bucs cornerback Brian Kelly aggravated his groin injury and was unable to finish Sunday's game. Wide receiver Ike Hilliard was injured as well. Gruden said the extent of both of those players' injuries would be determined by Wednesday.Â
