QB CHRIS SIMMS ON THE VICTORY OVER THE SAINTS
“It was a big one; the saints are a good football team. They fought us hard today. It’s a different environment out there. You’re used to being on the road in a hostile, loud environments. It’s kind of a subdued crowd because the stadium isn’t full. We rose to the challenge and got the win.”

SIMMS ON THE DRIVE THAT ENDED IN A TOUCHDOWN TO GALLOWAY
“We had a nice little drive there. The Offensive line did a great job today in pass protecting and running the ball opening up holes for Cadillac and Pittman all day. They brought an all out blitz, (Galloway) one on one outside. It’s dangerous living when you try that too many times.”

SIMMS ON CONVERSIONS TO IKE HILLIARD
“They were big. Ike is a player that had great feel. Standard medium routes he just really knows the game. He did a great job of making himself available and getting a few yards after the catch.”

SIMMS ON RONDE BARBER
“Unbelievable job by our defense. We expect that from them every week. It’s one of the best in the league. (Barber) is one of the best corners ever. If he gets the ball in his hands he’s going to catch it nine times out of 10.”

CB RONDE BARBER ON THREE INTERCEPTIONS
“They were driving. He tried to get it over my head behind me to Joe Horn. Fortunately, it stuck in my left hand which is not my good hand. It was a pretty clean interception. The second one was an easy catch. The last one on the two minute drill, somebody had to make a play as this defense always says. The ball just happened to come to me, I turned around and saw it and it hit me right in the hands.”

BARBER ON THIRD DOWN WOES
“It seems like the quarterback is able to get out of the pocket and get away from our rush and find open receivers. We just got to be more sound and get consistent pressure on the quarterback and those things will cure themselves.”

ANTHONY MCFARLAND ON VICTORY
“It was big. We’re 8-4 with a four game stretch left. We still haven’t played our best game today. Takeaways are always big. Anytime you can stop the run and take the ball away you have a chance of winning.”

HEAD COACH JON GRUDEN ON VICTORY
“I think it’s a great complement to this team and these coaches. Coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Bears to play as well as we did, not turn the ball over and get four on defense and find a way to win in Baton Rouge is great.”

GRUDEN ON TOUCHDOWN DRIVE
“It was a full blitz. They blitzed us from everywhere early. Cadillac Williams makes a good pickup and Chris delivers a great throw and Joey finishes. That’s huge in the game.”

GRUDEN ON FIELD GOAL IN THIRD QUARTER
“We played great offensively in the second half. We only have three points to show for it but after the touchdown we did get to make it 7-0, they possessed the ball for the last five minutes of the second quarter and basically half of the third quarter. It’s a credit to our offensive team in a 7-3 game to come out and take the ball down there and get points. Michael Pittman’s catch and run on third and long is huge.”

GRUDEN ON CADILLAC WILLIAMS AND THE OTHER BACKS
“The bottom line is that (Cadillac) is a great back. Great players play big in big games. Michael Pittman gave us 40 yards on his own on four carries. Alstott didn’t see the ball today, I’m sure I’ll hear about that but he did a nice job as a fullback. I was really pleased with our backs today.”

GRUDEN ON RONDE BARBER
“Ronde did great. He had three interceptions and really out of generosity he let the other one go to one of his teammates. He could have had four. That’s what they do. Ronde was significant today.”

GRUDEN ON BEING 8-4 AND PICKING UP THE FOURTH ROAD VICTORY OF THE YEAR
“It’s a credit to our team. We’ve had two kickers and two quarterbacks and I don’t know how many guys have contributed. We’ve got six first year players playing on offense. Shelton Quarles gets hurt and Barrett Rudd comes up big today. Playing without Will Allen, Jermaine Phillips is gone, Dexter Jackson has been out. We’ve got a real good chemistry going.”
