Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Aaron Brooks spent Thursday visiting One Buccaneer Place, according to ESPN.
Brooks, 30, is the second quarterback Tampa Bay has shown interest in acquiring in as many days. On Wednesday, the Bucs received permission to speak with Washington QB Patrick Ramsey, whom the Redskins are attempting to trade.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Brooks played in 85 games (82 starts) during his six-year career with the Saints, completing 56.4 percent of his passes and throwing for 19,156 yards and tossing 120 touchdowns and 84 interceptions.
Brooks is considered a mobile quarterback. He’s rushed for 1,410 career yards (4.1 avg.) and 13 touchdowns.
Last season, Brooks completed 55.7 percent of his passes and threw for 2,882 yards and tossed 13 touchdowns and 17 interceptions before being benched in favor of Todd Bouman in Week 14.
Tampa Bay still is interested in re-signing QB Brian Griese, who was released in a salary cap maneuver earlier this month. The Bucs have four quarterbacks – Chris Simms, Luke McCown, Tim Rattay and Jared Allen – under contract for the 2006 season.
