The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have hired Southern California defensive line coach Jethro Franklin to replace Rod Marinelli, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.
As first reported Thursday by PewterReport.com, Franklin, 40, emerged as the top candidate to replace Marinelli, who accepted the Detroit Lions’ head coaching job last month.
Franklin has 14 years worth of experience coaching defensive lines in college – most recently with USC – and in the NFL – with Green Bay (2000-04). He spent the 2005 season with USC, where he worked with Trojans offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, who is the son of Bucs defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin.
