Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Chris Simms was voted the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Player of the Week on Friday.
Simms finished last Sunday’s game with a 119.8 quarterback rating by completing 15-of-29 passes (51.7 percent) of his passes for 279 yards and tossing three touchdowns en route to leading the Bucs to a thrilling 36-35 win over the Washington Redskins.
Simms received 38 percent of the fan votes on NFL.com, which was enough to edge out quarterbacks Peyton Manning (Indianapolis) and Joey Harrington (Detroit) for the award.
In other news, it appears as though the Bucs will make game-time decisions on three of their injured players – wide receiver Michael Clayton (bone bruise), defensive end Greg Spires (shoulder) and safety Dexter Jackson (hamstring).
Although they participated in practice this week, all three players are listed as questionable on Tampa Bay’s official injury report.
Bucs S Will Allen (knee) is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game and isn’t expected to play vs. the Atlanta Falcons. Running back Michael Pittman (shoulder) is listed as probable.
