The Buccaneers are just a few days away from reporting to Celebration Hotel for training camp, and they appear to be closing in on signing their two top draft picks – first-round guard Davin Joseph and second-round tackle Jeremy Trueblood.

Joseph’s agent, Ben Dogra, informed PewterReport.com last week that he and Bucs general manager Bruce Allen were scheduled to meet in St. Louis on Tuesday, and that meeting appears to still be on schedule.

The Bucs also likely will speak with Tom Condon, who is the agent for Trueblood, on Tuesday.

Tampa Bay’s plan is to have each of those players’ deals finalized by Wednesday, which is one day before the Buccaneers report to training camp in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Allen’s previous working relationship with both Dogra and Condon should bode well for Tampa Bay and Allen’s streak of never having a rookie holdout.

Last year, Allen and Dogra negotiated the contract for Tampa Bay’s 2005 first-round pick, running back Cadillac Williams, and finalized the deal just hours before the Bucs’ first training camp practice despite the fact that the two running backs selected before Williams — Ronnie Brown and Cedric Benson — had not signed their respective deals yet.

Condon represents several Bucs players, including defensive end Simeon Rice, defensive tackle Chris Hovan and right tackle Kenyatta Walker, and both he and Allen worked out the contract for Bucs 2004 first-round selection, wide receiver Michael Clayton.

The Bucs already have four draft picks – quarterback Bruce Gradkowski, tight end Tim Massaquoi, defensive lineman Julian Jenkins and cornerback Justin Phinisee – under contract.

The team’s six remaining draft picks – Joseph, Trueblood, wide receiver Maurice Stovall (third round), cornerback Alan Zemaitis (fourth round), TE T.J. Williams (sixth round) and defensive lineman Charles Bennett (seventh round) – remain unsigned, but their agents have been in negotiations with the Buccaneers front office.
