Defensive Back

Most impressive: M.J. Stewart | CB | UNC

I listed Stewart as a cornerback the Bucs should keep their eyes on going into Senior Bowl week. He showed some nice all-around game in his film from UNC, but I was worried that would mean he would stand out – average everywhere doesn’t get you anywhere.

It didn’t.

Instead, Stewart was in his receiver;’ hip pockets all week. He played well against all different types of receivers.

I’d also like to make sure to mention WVU safety Kyzir White as a player who had a great week. They played him at strong safety, single-high free safety, man coverage form the slot and zone coverage around the field. They gave him the gauntlet and he thrived.

Most disappointing: Armani Watts | S | Texas A&M

Armani Watts is a player who I held high standards for going into Senior Bowl week, but I barely even noticed him. He’s a player who makes more of an impact when he can make contact and the practices aren’t full contact, but I wanted him to show better instincts to really make that athleticism he has pop. That didn’t happen. Instead, I rarely even saw him out there. Other players were taking my attention for the plays I thought he was going to be the one making. I still like him, but I was disappointed.
