Interior Offensive Lineman
Most impressive: Will Hernandez | OG | UTEP
Anytime an offensive guard has one of those neck roll pads that make it look like their trap muscles are bigger than their neck, I take note. That was Will Hernandez this week, and he definitely lived up to that neck-roll, bulldozer narrative. Hernandez was a good combination of quickness and power. If a team is looking for a tough interior guard in Day 2, I’d look at this guy.
Most disappointing: Mason Cole | C | Michigan
I was told Mason Cole was one of the best, if not the best, offensive linemen going to the Senior Bowl, by more than a few people. But, when it was all said and done, Cole struggled in Mobile. A reason for that might be due to a freakish player he was going up against this week, which we’ll get to later, but overall I still just wasn’t impressed. He looked slow in pass protection and tended to get bullied, at times. You don’t want that in your center.
