The 2022 Pro Bowl roster is out, and five Buccaneers are on it. QB Tom Brady, RT Tristan Wirfs, LG Ali Marpet, C Ryan Jensen and OLB Shaq Barrett all made the squad. Eight Bucs players were also chosen as alternates for the game. Three were first team alternates, including WR Mike Evans, LB Devin White and S Antoine Winfield Jr. The five additional alternates were RG Alex Cappa, RB Leonard Fournette, WR Chris Godwin, TE Rob Gronkowski and DT Vita Vea.
It’s Brady’s record-setting 15th Pro Bowl, becoming the first player in NFL history to make that many. Brady currently leads the NFL in passing yards (4,348) and touchdown passes (36). The Bucs star quarterback has now made the Pro Bowl in 68 percent of his NFL seasons.

Barrett garnered his second Pro Bowl nod, both coming as a Buccaneer. The Tampa Bay pass rusher was also selected after his 19.5-sack season in 2019. Barrett has been very good this season, leading the Bucs defense with nine sacks. Counting the playoffs, Barrett now has 40.5 sacks in less than three seasons as a Buc. He’s also among the league leaders in quarterback pressures.
As for Marpet, Wirfs and Jensen, they all made the Pro Bowl for the first time. All three have been lights out this season, easily among the best players in the NFL at their positions. Wirfs was selected as a starter for the game. That means he was chosen as a top two offensive tackle in the NFC this season.
According to The Athletic’s Greg Auman, this is the first time in franchise history the Bucs have had three offensive linemen in the Pro Bowl. Auman also added that the Bucs have five Pro Bowlers for the first time since 2015.
In Jensen, Marpet and Wirfs, Bucs have three Pro Bowl offensive linemen in the same year for the first time in franchise history. They’ve had two only once, with Jeff Christy and Randall McDaniel in 2000.

Bucs Pro Bowl Snubs
Not many Bucs have cases for being snubbed. One clear exclusion was linebacker Lavonte David, who has been excellent again this season. David has piled up 97 tackles, five tackles-for-loss, two forced fumbles, two sacks, and three pass breakups this season. Frankly, David has once again been significantly better than White. However, due to injury he has played in just 12 games. David will likely miss the rest of the regular season with a foot sprain.
Left tackle Donovan Smith is the other clear snub. Due to the presence of Trent Williams, Tyron Smith and Wirfs, Smith had no chance of making the Pro Bowl squad. But Smith should have been an alternate. Smith has been better than Cappa this season.
