Going into the 2018 offseason it was no secret where the Buccaneers needed to improve. And while it perhaps didn’t happen as fast as some fans would have liked, Tampa Bay is better in the trenches as March quickly wraps up.

On Thursday the Tampa Bay Buccaneers added another piece to the puzzle acquiring former USF and Giants standout pass rusher Jason Pierre-Paul to bolster their anemic pass rush.

Tampa Bay sends their third round pick (No. 69 overall) and the two teams will swap fourth round selections.

The Buccaneers were dead last in sacks last season, only notching 22 quarterback takedowns and the addition of Pierre-Paul should improve that dramatically. Pierre-Paul has had 15.5 sacks over the last two seasons, and has 58.5 in his career for the Giants.

Known simply as JPP, the former Bulls star was the overall No. 15 pick in the 2010 draft after his college career at USF and helped the Giants win Super Bowl XLVI during his time in New York. Pierre-Paul has also been to the Pro Bowl twice in while also being named All-Pro in 2011. In addition to his 58.5 career sacks he has also tallied 433 tackles, 47 pass breakups and 13 forced fumbles in his eight seasons in the NFL.
