The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have already honored 11 of some the franchise’s most important and iconic members, whether player, coach or organizational administrator into their Ring of Honor. Some of the names already in the Ring include Derrick Brooks, John McKay, Warren Sapp, Lee Roy Selmon, and as of last season, Jon Gruden and Malcolm Glazer.
The Bucs have now announced that, in 2018, the team will induct their 12th member into their prestigious Ring of Honor: Coach Tony Dungy.
Congratulations to @TonyDungy, who will be inducted into the Ring of Honor in 2018!

Dungy, a member of the 2016 Pro Football Hall of Fame class, had a 54-42 regular season record as head coach of the Buccaneers and a franchise-best .563 winning percentage with four playoff appearances. The four playoff appearances in Dungy’s six seasons in Tampa Bay (1996-2001) tied for the third-most in the NFL during that span.
The ceremony will take place during the team’s Monday Night Football game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 24th.
Buccaneers Owner/Co-Chairman Bryan Glazer commented on the selection.
“Tony Dungy’s impact on the Buccaneers and the Tampa Bay community is not measured in terms of wins and losses,” Glazer said. “Tony transformed our entire organization and established a winning culture that set the foundation for the most successful era in our franchise’s history. Through his exceptional leadership, Tony set a new benchmark for excellence on and off the field that we still strive to achieve to this day.”
The Bucs released a statement from Dungy on the honor.
“I will always be grateful to the Glazer family for giving me my first opportunity to coach a team,” Dungy said. “It was an awesome time for me and my family as we encountered so many special players, staff members, and fans. This induction into the Buccaneers Ring of Honor puts a bow on all those great memories.”
