Todd Monken arrived at the podium and wanted to talk Bucs football. Not Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL football though, the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers who would be playing in a playoff game this week. Monken’s son is on the team and he gave a shoutout to him and his son’s friends.

Once the family affair was done, Monken got to the nitty gritty of the Bucs offensive problems. Everyone has discussed one way or another about the Bucs historic 500+ yards and three points, Monken said it really came down to execution.

Part of the reason for the red zone troubles has been turnovers by Ryan Fitzpatrick. He has five turnovers over the last two games. Fitzpatrick was put in as the starter over Jameis Winston because of Winston’s turnovers, but now Fitzpatrick hasn’t faired much better. Monken went into the differences between each of their turnover mistakes.

Another jump into the problems in the red zone was the offensive line. One of Fitzpatrick’s turnovers came from a fumble after getting sacked, yet Monken says the offensive line has been “outstanding.”

Ryan Fitzpatrick was up next. This will be the first time that he’s back at MetLife stadium since playing for the Jets in 2015 and 2016. Fitzpatrick talked about what it was like to play there.

Fitzpatrick is obviously an experienced players who has seen a lot. Something he’d never saw before though is the three points and 500 yards game. Fitzpatrick mentioned how tough that was to see.

On top of that, the Bucs also dropped to a 3-6 record and a minus 19 ratio in the turnover margin. That could knock any team down, but Fitzpatrick has remained confident and resilient all this time.

Another player that has seen a lot in his career is DT Gerald McCoy. In the locker room McCoy discussed someone he has never played against before: RB Saquon Barkley.

McCoy then got into playing against the Giants entire offensive unit. He said the Giants offense is very flammable if they can catch fire, and that all has to do with Barkley and Odell Beckham Jr. McCoy emphasized stopping the run.

Speaking of other players who’ve been to the Meadowlands a few times, DeSean Jackson knows what it’s like to play there. He said Giants fans still hate him for his “Miracle at the Meadowlands II” punt return touchdown.

Jackson then got into the Bucs red zone troubles. Everyone just needs to do their job, and they haven’t been, according to Jackson.

Up at practice, the player with the most well known history at the Meadowlands, Jason Pierre-Paul, was seen practicing with a club on his right hand.

Head coach Dirk Koetter dispelled any worry about Pierre-Paul not playing against his old team, claiming he just had a sore finger.

DeSean Jackson’s history at MetLife stadium was brought up again about his punt return, which brought up the question of would Jackson go at it again this time in a place that he’s very familiar with.
Koetter expressed that Jackson can return punts at anytime that he wants.

One last decision that Koetter has to make is who will be calling the plays on offense this Sunday. Todd Monken was doing so for the entire season until Koetter took control of that last week against Washington. Koetter still hasn’t decided who will call it when they take on the Giants, but said he will have his choice by the end of the night.
