Jason Pierre-Paul isn’t the only Bucs player that has some history with the Giants and MetLife stadium. DeSean Jackson may not have played for the Giants, but spending a majority of his NFL career in the NFC East has left Jackson with a lot of history in the Meadowlands.
Jackson has had a number of highlight-reel plays in his career, but in the minds of Giants fans, he is most infamously remembered for his walk off punt return for a touchdown against them in December of 2010. It is dubbed the “Miracle at the Meadowlands 2,” and Giants fans haven’t forgotten.

“Giants fans hate me still to this day,” Jackson said. “I still get a lot of fans telling me how much they hate me for returning that punt on them. It’s something that will probably always be bitter to them, but like I said, I’m just doing my job.”
The veteran wide receiver still remembers that play like it was yesterday. He believes the reason it still stings for them is that it knocked them out of the playoffs that year.
He still also thinks the hate is real, not just a playful hate that wears off as time goes by.
“I talk to JPP all the time about that,” Jackson said. “He was like ‘man, we really felt like we were a Super Bowl team that year,’ and the game we beat them was actually to send them home. So, yeah I think it’s real. It’s definitely tough, but it is what it is, like I said, I’m just doing my job.”
Since the subject was a nostalgic discussion, Jackson was then asked if maybe he would throw it back and head out there for a punt return on Sunday for old time’s sake. Jackson hasn’t went out for a punt return since week six against Atlanta, but we won’t find out if he will until the game starts.
“We’ll see how it goes,” Jackson said. “We’ll see how it goes.”
Jackson has been known to stick it to his former teams, so maybe that can expand to former rivals. That just might flip a switch and get him out there for a fourth down return.
