One of the Bucs top free agent signees from 2018 has been released. In a statement by the team on Tuesday, the Bucs announced they have released defensive end Vinny Curry after just one season.

Curry, 31, was under contract until the 2020 season and the move saves the team $8 million is cap space.

Playing in 12 games in 2018, Curry notched 21 tackles, 2.5 sacks, seven quarterback hits and five tackles for loss in his lone season in Tampa Bay.

During the four games Curry missed with injury, Carl Nassib emerged as a viable replacement and finished the season with 6.5 sacks. Nassib is under contract for 2019 at just over $2 million from his original rookie deal.

Curry is the first in a long list of tough decisions the team will need to make as they try and free up cap space to sign some of their own unrestricted free agents while also adding some additional talent via free agency next month.
