The Buccaneers announced on Friday that they have released cornerback David Rivers. After signing Ndamukong Suh and Jordan Leggett this week, the Bucs were over the 90-man offseason roster limit and needed to make a move.

Rivers signed as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers in May of 2017. He was released by the Packers in June of that same year and signed with the New York Jets, where he was on the team until September 1, before getting released then.
He next signed to the Bucs practice squad in September 2017, was released November 15th, and re-signed seven days later and was waived again on November 28th.
His last stop in 2017 was on the Miami Dolphins, signing to their practice squad on December 5th.
Rivers went back to the Bucs in 2018, but was put on injured reserved in August. He re-signed with the practice squad again in October and was even brought up to the active roster on November 28th of 2018.
He played his college football at the Division I FCS school Youngstown State, notching 45 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and one interception in two season there.
