Following a second MRI taken on Friday, Ian Rapaport is reporting that that Vita Vea could be expected to return by week four of the Bucs’ season and that no surgery is required. It’s far from a perfect start to 2019 that the second-year player was hoping for, but it’s surely a sigh of relief from the organization given the worst case scenario.
Following his MRI, good news for #Bucs 2018 first-round DT Vita Vea. Sources say he can return within the first 4 weeks of the season but no surgery is required for his knee injury. Or what @MikeGarafolo tweeted a few days ago. Should miss minimal game time. (Fixed earlier tweet)

After suffering a knee injury during a training camp practice on Tuesday, the Bucs’ first round draft pick from 2018 underwent an MRI that revealed fluid in his knee, requiring a second MRI to be taken on Friday.
Vea is primed to be a powerful, versatile defensive tackle looking to take a leap in his second year alongside newly-acquired Ndamukong Suh in Todd Bowles’ defense. Barring a surprise addition prior to week one, Vea will be immediately replaced on the defensive line by nosetackle Beau Allen and defensive tackle Rakeen Nunez-Roches.
