The Buccaneers have seen their fair share of training camp injuries – maybe more than their fair share – but head coach Bruce Arians told the media on Saturday that help for the secondary is on the way.
Kentrell Brice went down late on Friday night with an injury against Pittsburgh and although Arians didn’t give a time table for his return, he said the team would be scouring available players to bring in.
“With five guys down, yeah, we’re probably going to have to make some kind of roster move to get somebody in here,” Arians said. “We got [John] Battle, but he wasn’t ready to play, we’ll get him up to speed and we’ll get somebody else up to speed as fast as possible.”

Some of that help could come with the return of 2018 starting safety Justin Evans who missed all of the offseason program and the early part of camp with foot injuries.
“Justin Evans is getting close,” Arians said. “He’s running now at full speed, pain free. We got to get him in game shape.”
A fully healthy Evans would be a welcomed addition to the Buccaneers defense that has seen a number of players (CB Jamel Dean, DT Vita Vea, S D’Cota Dixon, S Mike Edwards) miss portions of time or have been placed on injured reserve.
Evans has missed eight games in his two-year career including six games in 2018. A former second round pick out of Texas A&M, if Evans can return and stay healthy he could be a bonus for Todd Bowles’ defense. The big question is, will he manage to stay healthy once cleared for return?
