On the heels of a feel-good Thursday night road win against the Carolina Panthers, Jameis Winston’s Dream Forever Foundation held a fundraising event at Avila Golf and Country Club on Saturday night.
To say it was successful would be an understatement.
When the total money was tallied from the event, the number came in at $325,000 and that will be used to create new state-of-the-art technology centers in financially disadvantaged Title I schools to expand personal learning opportunities and provide career exploration for its students.
According to a release from the foundation, “The Dream Rooms provide students with technology and expert guidance that will enable students to explore, tinker, design and invent. The Dream Room will include a “makerspace” that will enable students to prototype their new product ideas using a variety of tools and materials such as software, 3D printers, electronics, robotics and more.”
The event was well attended by the community (and PewterReport.com) but also the organization. Some of the players who came out to support Winston included Cam Brate, Ryan Griffin, Blaine Gabbert, Will Gholston, Ali Marpet and Donovan Smith. And another big time guest was head coach Bruce Arians and his wife Christine.
Winston spoke to the Bucs Carmen Vitali on Saturday evening.
“Being able to get into the community and get to know you guys on a personal level can create relationships for life – and not just because I know how to throw a football or because I can score touchdowns on your fantasy league,” Winston said. “I actually get a chance to be your teammate and help this community grow. Everyone, it doesn’t matter if you have kids or don’t have kids, you want to see kids be successful because we live in this economy and we all want America to be great, so it starts with our youth and I’m blessed you guys are here.”
