Close but no cigar once again, as the offense did their part this week against the Seattle Seahawks but the Bucs defense was a sieve, giving up 492 yards including a 75-yard drive in overtime that gave the Seahawks the 40-34 win.

The Bucs now fall to 2-6 on the season and have lost four straight games.

CB Jamel Dean
Has a Bucs cornerback had a worse game than Jamel Dean? Probably, but none come to memory. Dean gave up Seahawks first touchdown to Tyler Lockett in the first quarter, then in the third quarter gave up another score to Lockett. Later in the game Dean got beat for a 54-yarder score to D.J. Metcalf. In overtime Dean committed an illegal contact penalty giving Seattle a first down, and then allowed a long pass to Metcalf that put the ball on the Bucs six-yard line. Two plays later Seattle scored to win the game.

In Dean’s defense, the rookie wasn’t slated to play, much less start, but Carlton Davis was injured in warmups and Dean was thrust into action.

RT Demar Dotson
Dotson  was called for a holding penalty negating a touchdown run by Jameis Winston in the second half. The Bucs had to settle for a Matt Gay field goal instead, and those four points lost proved costly. That is now three touchdowns that Dotson penalties has cost the Bucs offense this season.

WR Scotty Miller
Prior To Dotson’s holding penalty that cost the Buccaneers a touchdown, rookie receiver Scotty Miller ran out of the back of the end zone then came back in. Miller caught the touchdown pass from Winston but it was disallowed since the played who goes out of bounds cant be the first player to touch the ball.

LT Donovan Smith
Being an offensive lineman is the most thankless job in the NFL. You play 71 solid snaps and you have one bad play and you can end up on a most disappointing list. That was the case for Donovan Smith on Sunday who had a good game minus one play that resulted in a turnover when he was bullied and pushed back into the arm of quarterback Jameis Winston was ended up losing the handle on the football. Seattle recovered the fumble and was able to gets three points off of the turnover.

DT Ndamukong Suh Beau Allen
Both missed the tackle at the line of scrimmage on a 59-yard run by Chris Carson that led to the Seahawks tying the game in the second half. Suh and Allen both had the best shot to bring down Carson but neither was able to wrap up and take down Seattle’s top running back. There were other missed tackles on the play including safety Mike Edwards.

Suh finished the game with three assists and Allen had one assist and was credited with a half sack of Russell Wilson.
