The Bucs’ left tackle Donovan Smith suffered a lower body injury last Sunday, causing him to briefly leave the contest. He returned to the game within the same offensive series and finished the game but his status against the Lions was put in question after being a non-participant in practice this week.
After being officially listed as doubtful on Friday’s injury report, his status was confirmed when he appeared on Tampa Bay’s game day inactive list. Sunday will be the first game of Smith’s career that he is inactive.
In Smith’s absence, offensive tackle Josh Wells will get the start in his place. If Wells should falter, Earl Watford could see some time at left tackle.
