The Tampa Bay Times confirmed on Wednesday that Bucs’ quarterback Jameis Winston has undergone LASIK eye surgery to repair his vision.

While GIFs and videos of Winston squinting as he looks across the field or up at the scoreboard have bounced around social media for some time now, much of the rumors regarding Winston’s eyesight were purely speculation until head coach Bruce Arians confirmed in his final press conference of the 2019 season that Tampa Bay’s signal caller was in fact nearsighted.

“He’s nearsighted,” Arians said bluntly. “He can’t read the scoreboard but he can see the guys in front of him so he’s fine.”

Arians went as far as to say that Winston even has a pair of goggles that he had practiced with at times.

Then last week Winston fueled the rumor of his LASIK surgery among fans as he wore, what appeared to be, a pair of sunglasses that insinuated a procedure had been done in an Instagram story.

The Athletic’s Greg Auman added to the report after speaking with Winston’s publicist Denise White about the procedure.
