Latest Bucs Headlines

It is NFL Draft season and the mock drafts from the NFL experts and pundits are being published nearly every day and making their picks for the Bucs. Each week until the 2020 NFL Draft in April, PewterReport.com will scour the Internet to find the list of players that are projected to Tampa Bay and put out the list with the links.

NEW MOCKS THIS WEEK

PewterReport.com – Jon Ledyard
Bucs’ First Round Pick: Alabama OT Jedrick Wills
“This should be a dream-come-true scenario for Tampa Bay, as Wills is my favorite offensive lineman in the class by a comfortable margin. I just think that his lack of length will bump him down the board a bit for some teams, especially if some view him as a guard after the NFL Scouting Combine. I think he’s a tackle all the way, and he’ll plug-and-play for the Bucs on the right side opposite Donovan Smith.

“Wills is a heart-and-soul, no-nonsense hustler on the field, who will bring a physicality and edge to the unit that the Bucs currently lack. I think his impact will be Quenton Nelson-like in the way that teammates respond and rally around his play demeanor. Depending on what other needs the Bucs have by the time the draft rolls around, I’d consider jumping up a few spots for him if he’s sliding. He’s a Top 5 player in the class for my money.” – Jon Ledyard

WalterFootball.com – Walter Cherepinsky
Bucs’ First Round Pick: Alabama S Xavier McKinney
Bucs’ Second Round Pick: Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor
Bucs’ Third Round Pick: Virginia CB Bryce Hall
Bucs’ Fourth Round Pick: Minnesota WR Tyler Johnson
Bucs’ Fifth Round Pick: Iowa QB Nate Stanley
“The Buccaneers could draft a quarterback, but that would require general manager Jason Licht to admit that he was wrong about Jameis Winston. Licht believes he’s right about everything, so Tampa might give Winston another shot in 2020. If so, perhaps this pick will be used on a safety to finally make amends for not selecting Derwin James.

“Xavier McKinney was the best safety on Alabama’s roster last year, despite the presence of Deionte Thompson. He can do everything in the secondary” – Walter Cherepinsky

CBS Sports – R.J. White
Bucs’ First Round Pick (Pick Nine, From Jaguars): Oregon QB Justin Herbert
“The Bucs pair the No. 76 pick with No. 14 to move into this spot for Herbert, boxing out other potential suitors for the Oregon quarterback. He should be a great fit for Bruce Arians’ vertical passing game.” – R.J. White

Sports Illustrated – Kevin Hanson
Bucs’ First Round Pick: Iowa OT Tristan Wirfs
“It’s unclear who will be under center for the Bucs in 2020, but bringing back Jameis Winston on a two-year deal is a possibility. Either way, right tackle Demar Dotson is about to be a free agent next month and Wirfs could slide in as a Day 1 starter at right tackle.” – Kevin Hanson

NFL.com – Bucky Brooks
Bucs’ First Round Pick: South Carolina DT Javon Kinlaw
“As a big, physical interior defender with extraordinary length and strength, Kinlaw is an ideal building block at the point of attack.” – Bucky Brooks

Barstool Sports – Steven Cheah
Bucs’ First Round Pick: South Carolina DT Javon Kinlaw
“Kinlaw is a muscular 6’6” 310 lbs. and put on a show at the Senior Bowl practices in front of coaches and execs. The Bucs have questions at 5-technique and Ndamukong Suh will be a fairly pricey free agent. While they’d surely hope to have him back, Kinlaw would likely represent best player available at this point.” – Steven Cheah

CBS Sports – Ryan Wilson
Bucs’ First Round Pick: LSU Edge K’Lavon Chaisson
“The Bucs’ 2019 draft class was defense-heavy and the results were immediate; the unit was the No. 5 defense in the league but the D-line could look completely different next season; Ndamukong Suh, Jason Pierre-Paul and Rakeem Nunez-Roches are all soon-to-be free agents. Chaisson will need to add 10 pounds to his frame but he’s already an explosive, disruptive presence off the edge.” – Ryan Wilson

Pro Football Focus – Austin Gayle
Bucs’ First Round Pick: Iowa Edge A.J. Epenesa
“Epenesa won’t be coveted for his burst and short-area quickness like some of the other top edge defenders in the 2020 class, but his production at Iowa and consistency as a pass-rusher should draw considerable interest from the Bucs’ brass at No. 14 overall. At 6-foot-6, 280 pounds, Epenesa wins with power and technique along the edge, a combination that should translate to production at the next level.” – Austin Gayle

The Draft Network – Joe Marino
Bucs’ First Round Pick: Trade 14th Pick To Lions For QB Matt Stafford
Second Round: USC OT Austin Jackson

Sporting News – Vinnie Iyer
Bucs’ First Round Pick: Iowa OT Tristan Wirfs
“Whether their QB remains Jameis Winston or someone else, the Bucs need both better pass protection and better run blocking. Wirfs has the athleticism at 6-5, 322 pounds to hold down the left side for a long time. He combines his pass-blocking skills with power and physicality in the running game. He can start on the right if needed with Demar Dotson going into free agency.” – Vinnie Iyer

For The Win USA Today Sports – Henry McKenna
Bucs’ First Round Pick: Iowa OT Tristan Wirfs
“The Buccaneers have plenty of positions of need on defense, but they’ll need to make a commitment to whatever quarterback is starting for them next season, be it Jameis Winston or even Brady. Wirfs comes from an offensive line factory at Iowa, and will start day one at right tackle. (He’s also a MONSTER on the hang clean, which is obviously monumentally important when it comes to blocking a defensive lineman… right?)” – Henry McKenna
