Mitchell had an encouraging training camp last season with the Bucs but he tore his achilles in their first preseason game of the season in Pittsburgh and was done for the year. Despite being out for the season, Mitchell could often be seen in the Bucs’ locker room while rehabbing the injury.
Before coming the Bucs last season, Mitchell played three years in the Canadian Football League for the Edmonton Eskimos. He signed with the Arizona Cardinals in January of 2019 before getting released in May, followed by signing with Tampa Bay.
The Bucs are set at the first two spots at wide receiver with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, but Mitchell should be in good competition for the fourth and fifth receiver position on the depth chart with Scotty Miller and Justin Watson this year.
