Wide receiver Chris Godwin missed practice again on Wednesday, along with a number of other veterans on the Bucs’ roster.
While the shortened practice held inside the Bucs’ indoor facility on Wednesday seemed to be a scheduled day off for many of Tampa Bay’s more experienced players, with Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Will Gholston, Mike Evans and Lavonte David all being held out as well, the noticeable point with Godwin’s absence is that it was his second consecutive missed practice and his third such day over the past 10.
“That’s for me to know and nobody else to find out,” head coach Bruce Arians said about Godwin’s status in his post-practice press conference on Wednesday.
Arians has been a bit more cavalier when discussing injuries, or potential injuries, that revolve around other players throughout camp, as he noted that rookie Tyler Johnson had been missing time with a soft-tissue injury last week and admitting that John Hurst suffered a sprained ankle on Wednesday that resulted in him being carted off of the practice field.
But with Godwin, Arians is far more tight-lipped as the Bucs are not yet required to release their first injury report. Thursday morning will be more telling as the Bucs hold another practice before heading to Raymond James Stadium on Friday for their final practice of the week.
