After being upgraded on Saturday from doubtful to questionable for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints, Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans is now “likely to play” in Week 1, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
#Bucs WR Mike Evans, listed as doubtful just yesterday before being upgraded to questionable, is now likely to play despite his hamstring injury, source said. Evans may be on a pitch count, but barring a setback, there is optimism for him to be on the field against the #Saints.

Evans did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday, then was a limited participant in Friday’s walk-through practice. He was then listed as doubtful on the team’s Friday injury report, before being upgraded to ‘questionable’ on Saturday. The Pro Bowl wide receiver has been nursing a hamstring injury, although it is believed to be the opposite leg than the one that caused him to miss a few games at the end of the 2019 season.
Evans is looking to rebound from a pair of uneventful outings against the Saints last season, in which he totaled just four catches for 69 yards and zero scores on 11 targets. He’s also seeking to become the first wide receiver in NFL history to post seven consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.
