Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans is well on his way to having a Hall Of Fame career. On that journey, Evans, a three-time Pro Bowler has already been compared to Hall Of Famer Randy Moss in both their style of play and on-field production.
Whether you agree with that comparison or not, those two will always be linked as they are the only receivers in NFL history to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in the first six seasons of their career.
If there’s anyone that can best speak on if Evans can reach the career status of Moss, it would be the only man in the league that has thrown passes to both of them – new Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.

f Famer has heard the Evans-Moss comparison before, and he agrees.
“From a physical standpoint – both [have] big bodies, big catch radiuses and great body control,” Brady said. “[They have] great understanding of the game – feel, instincts, [etc.]. Randy is a Hall of Famer. I think Mike is going to be one too and it’s been amazing to play with him. I love playing with Mike. He’s been just spectacular from the day I met him. I admired him from afar for a long time. I’m just blessed to play with him and Chris [Godwin with] what he’s accomplished in his short time in the NFL. I think those two guys really lead the charge for our receivers and they’re great mentors for the young players we have.”
Brady and Moss were teammates together on the New England Patriots for four seasons, which was highlighted in an undefeated regular season back in 2007. That year they connected for 98 completions, 1,493 yards and 23 touchdowns. Moss made first-team All-Pro for the last time in his career, while Brady won the first of his three NFL MVPs.
Evans and Brady are in their first season together, and if Evans’ seven-reception, 104-yard, one touchdown performance in Week 2 is any indication of how the rest of his season will look, Evans could be the sole owner of his own NFL record with another 1,000 yard season. Evans had his 25th 100-yard receiving day last Sunday and caught his 50th career touchdown pass.
“We’re off to a decent start,” Brady said. “We’ve got to really build on it and try to make as many improvements as quickly as possible.”
