Latest Bucs Headlines

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have elevated running back Kenjon Barner from the practice squad to the main roster ahead of Monday night’s game at home against the Rams. Barner will eligible to participate in the match-up.

With kick returner Jaydon Mickens still on the COVID-19 list for another week, there is a chance that Barner could be handling those responsibilities on Monday night. In a 46-23 victory over the Panthers a week ago, it was Tyler Johnson back on kick returns with Antonio Brown there for punts.

It’s the first time the Bucs have made a practice squad eligible since Week 6, and Barner will head back to the practice squad following the game.

Barner returned one punt for 33 yards in Week 4 during the Bucs’ 38-31 win over the Chargers. His best season in kick returns came a year ago with the Falcons when he returned 17 kicks for 406 yards, averaging 23.9 yards per return.

The Bucs have returned 16 kickoffs so far this season for a total of 355 yards and 22.2-yard average. Mickens had the longest return of the season with a 34-yard run in a Week 7 win over the Raiders, while Barner’s lone attempt puts him second on the Bucs, just a yard short.
