Barring a last minute setback, PewterReport.com has learned that Bucs’ starting left guard Ali Marpet, who has missed the last three games with a concussion, will suit up and start for Tampa Bay on Sunday when they host the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
Marpet, who was having a Pro Bowl-caliber year prior to his injury in Week 8, will be a big boost to the Bucs’ offensive line. Tampa Bay started Joe Haeg in his place against the Saints, but the veteran free agent struggled and was replaced the last two weeks by center Ryan Jensen, who shifted over to guard as A.Q. Shipley filled in for Jensen. But Shipley suffered a career-ending cervical injury last Monday night and will be placed on injured reserve.
Marpet has started 69 of 80 games in his career at right guard, center and left guard.
