After reaching the 1,000-yard milestone for his seventh consecutive season since entering the league, setting a new NFL record, the Bucs saw star receiver Mike Evans leave Sunday’s game against the Falcons with a knee injury. Head coach Bruce Arians gave an optimistic update following the game, claiming that the organization didn’t believe that the injury was serious, and Arians confirmed on Monday that Evans’ MRI showed no ligament or structural damage, even opening the door for Evans to suit up against Washington in the first round of the playoffs on Saturday.

“The MRI showed no structural damage,” Arians said. “It was a hyperextension and I just saw him in the training room a little while ago and he has very, very little swelling and he’ll be day-to-day.”

Arians added that Evans will be testing the knee out throughout the week ahead of Saturday’s game, running in the pool on Monday and hopefully returning to practice on Thursday.

In addition to Evans, the Bucs were also without a number of other players throughout the roster for injury or COVID-related reasons. Arians also provided updates for cornerback Carlton Davis and defensive linemen Jeremiah Ledbetter, Shaq Barrett and Steve McLendon on Monday.

“I think Carlton should be up and going,” Arians said. “Ledbetter will be very iffy, Shaq will be back. Not sure about [McLendon] yet.”
