According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Bucs are working on a contract restructure for star WR Mike Evans. It won’t be the first time Evans has re-configured his deal to help create space for the team, although it won’t mean less money for the Pro Bowl wideout. Evans will simply get his money at a different time or in a different form, allowing the team more breathing room for 2021.
Bucs are working on a contract restructure for star receiver Mike Evans, per source. This will be a simple restructure to give Tampa Bay more cap space for Super Bowl repeat efforts.

The Bucs currently have about $184,000 in cap space heading into the 2021 season. An Evans restructure will help give them a little breathing room, although it remains to be seen if the team will use that space. Tampa Bay’s roster is pretty maxed out with talent, so a new signing would be a surprise.
Evans recorded his seventh consecutive 1,000-yard season last year, an NFL record. The 28-year old wide receiver has lit up training camp, drawing praise from several coaches. Evans caught two passes for 20 yards in the team’s preseason finale against the Houston Texans on Saturday.
The Bucs open the 2021 regular season in Tampa Bay on Thursday, September 9, against the Dallas Cowboys.
