As the Bucs continue to make roster moves, especially on the practice squad, they have added a familiar face. According to Greg Auman of The Athletic, receiver John Hurst will be signing back to the team’s practice squad.

Hurst signed with the Bucs as an undrafted free agent out of West Georgia. He made the team’s initial 53-man roster but was immediately placed on short term injured reserve. He was activated off of IR in October and subsequently released.

After his release, Hurst was signed to the Bucs practice squad but was released after only two weeks. He would go on to finish the season on the Los Angeles Chargers practice squad. Signing a futures contract with L.A. in January, he made it to the final round of cuts before being waived in August.

In Tampa Bay he joins a stacked wide receiver room which currently has seven wide receiver’s on the active roster. Practice squad receiver Travis Jonsen was recently placed on the teams reserve/COVID list. To fill that hole the Bucs are bringing back a wide out that showed promise through out last season and knows the system. With Jonsen on the reserve/COVID list no corresponding move needs to be made to open up a spot.
