The Bucs have placed another starting cornerback on injured reserve – this time it’s Carlton Davis III. Davis injured his quadriceps muscle in Tampa Bay’s 19-17 win at New England on Sunday night. Davis had to be helped from the field and carted to the locker room.
Davis joins fellow starting cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting on injured reserve. Murphy-Bunting was placed on injured reserve after dislocating his elbow after the team’s 31-29 season opening win over Dallas. Davis is expected to miss several weeks and will be out at least three weeks with his placement on I.R.
“It’s a quad injury – pulled muscle,” Bucs head coach Bruce Arians said on Wednesday when addressing Davis’ injury. He didn’t have a timetable for his return.
Davis indicated that he will return before the season is over in a tweet on Twitter on Wednesday.
Thank you all for the prayers ! I appreciate the love ! I’ll be back sooner than you think ready to complete for #2❗️

Davis, who is in a contract year, leads the Bucs with five pass breakups and has the lone interception by any Tampa Bay cornerback this year through four games.
The Bucs currently have six cornerbacks on the active roster – Jamel Dean, who is coming off a Week 3 knee injury, Richard Sherman, Ross Cockrell, Dee Delaney, Pierre Desir and Rashard Robinson. Tampa Bay’s roster currently stands at 52 as the team did not make a corresponding roster move after putting Davis on injured reserve.
