Another game, another key injury for the Bucs. The team’s latest loss is Bucs linebacker Lavonte David, who went down late in the second quarter of a 45-17 win over Miami. David leapt in the air to deflect a pass as a blitzer, and defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh rolled up on his ankle as the linebacker landed. David was able to walk off the field under his own power before leaving for the locker room.
According to ESPN’s Jenna Laine, early reports indicate that X-rays were negative for any fractures. When asked after the game, head coach Bruce Arians said they are still waiting for more information.
“We don’t know anything about Lavonte yet, but it appears to be a high ankle sprain,”Arians said. “We’ll wait and see.”

Shaq Barrett also spoke on wanting to win the game for David after his injury.
“It was most definitely tough for our defense,” Barrett said. “We tried to rally around [Lavonte] with him being gone. Just to make sure we won the game. Because I know when people get hurt and not in the game, being a player like ‘Vonte, he could have affected the game in any way possible. We wanted to make sure we closed it out the way we are supposed to for him. But it hurt not having him out there. We missed his leadership, his energy and his playmaking.”
Bucs quarterback Tom Brady also appeared to suffer a hand injury. The injury occurred after Brady hit his throwing hand on a Dolphin defender’s helmet in the second quarter. Brady never left the game and threw four more touchdowns on the day.
“Whatever happened, it happened early,” Arians said. “It didn’t affect him too much.”
Brady came to the podium with his thumb wrapped.
“In my younger days, I probably would never have shown you guys that I wrapped it up, cause I probably would’ve tried to keep it a secret,” Brady said. “I think in my older age, I don’t care as much. It’s just kind of just a football injury. I’ll do my best to get ready for this game so we’ll see what happens.”
The Bucs travel to Philadelphia to play the Eagles on Thursday Night Football in Week 6.
